Catching the Flu Bug...

Almost everyone at home has caught the flu bug in the past week. It started with Ee who came home from school with a running nose. Later on hubby and Min caught it together and they have all been sick since 2 weeks ago. Sigh, the worse is min who is still having stuffing and running nose since day 1 of catching the flu and has shown any signs of improvement. Poor me and him has been getting little sleep over his flu since he can't breathe properly with his nose stuffed and I had to carry him in different positions so he could sleep better. Hope he gets better soon!
The registration for Primary one has started today. Will need to go to RSS to get the referral letter for Hao to register in the school on July 10th. Am pretty excited since he's the firstborn and the first to get into primary school. It seemed only yesterday that he was just a little baby and after 6 years, he's finally getting into primary school. On one hand I can't wait for them to grow up so I can have my own time back, but on the other hand, I feel that they are really growing up too fast and I can't imagine having to let them go and grow up.
The reno works at the new house is really dragging. The ID initially said that he could finish the work in the first weeks of July, and we thought to give him till mid July to finish all the work. Just last week as we were talking to him, he said that some part of the works had been delayed and his workers are on a lot of projects and can only finish the works end July. Sigh it's really frustrating as he's not really catching up in the project and we had to personally supervise a lot of work and we really feel that he's not doing his job really well. Anyway we have to evacuate and hand over the current flat end July and thus told him to quicken and finish the work by 3rd week of July so that we can start moving and get the current flat ready for the new owner sigh..

Rant and Vent...

Sometimes I think I am an Ok mum, sometimes I think I suck at being a mum, other times I think I have done my best, the rest of the time, I don't have time to think what went on during the day and will just plop down onto the bed and sleep.
Being a woman is not easy...that's because at the same time, we have to be a wife, daughter, daughter in law, mother, chef, mediator, cleaner, teacher, discipline mistress, and a whole lot of other roles that i can't even think of right now off hand. I dare to say that i try to excel at each of my role, even to the extend that I myself think I expect too much of myself at times. Nobody is perfect, and yet I try my best to be perfect at my roles. I stress myself out and push myself to limits that I never knew I could bear. I think I am burning out faster and faster for various reasons. Perhaps I think too much...or too little. Sigh...see even when I think I stress myself out!
My world is so small now. Of course I expected it right before I decide to quit and stay home. It's a joy to see the kids everyday and spend time with them but sometimes I really hoped I can at least have some time to cut my hair or laze around for the afternoon, but I really cannot afford all these. Simple things like that are becoming a luxury to me and I can't complain simply because I made the choice to do so and I expected it in the first place. My friends gave me the kind advice to make some time for myself and pamper myself but I really can't bear to drop the kids and enjoy "free" time to myself. I'll always be thinking "have they taken their meals?" or "are the kids fighting now?" or even as simple as "will the kids miss me..". I really brought it upon myself for not being able to let go even for a simple few hours LOL I keep telling myself I can be more relax when min is older...wonder when will the day come when I can really let go :P
Hubby is in taiwan this week for a good 4 days. Am bunking with my mum this week with the kids. Hubby, ee and min had been down with flu since last week and has yet to recover fully. I hate it when Min falls sick. He's really suffering from the running nose and having real difficulty sleeping with the stuffed nose. I have been taking care of him day and night since last week that he fell sick and maybe that's why I have been feeling down due to the lack of rest. I desperately need some attention and pampering. Someone to tell me I have done a good job and things will get better or simply just give me a pat on my shoulders. Sigh. This is just one of my down period i guess.
I really don't know what am I writing now...maybe it's a whole load of nonsense that doesn't make any cow sense...

KungFu Panda Day!

Today is Hao's birthday. I actually told him it's not his birthday till 11.40pm tonight as that's the exact time he was born 6 years ago, but I don't think he understands that because he told me that's too late as he'll be asleep by 10pm LOL.

Last night my sis came over and brought a small Thomas the Train cake for him and we sang the birthday song and got him to cut the cake early. Sis gave him a Arthur motorised train as a present and gave Ee a Bob the Builder bag just in case he got jealous lol

We (its me actually) had a day long celebration for him today. After we sent Ee to school, I brought him to MacDonald for a sumptous breakfast and headed to ToyrUs to get his birthday present. Sadly, the PC game that he had eyed for a long time was out of stock. He started to nagged at me for not getting it few days ago when we came to choose his present. I was quite insistent that he should get it on the actual day instead of earlier, and I assured him again and again that there'll be plenty of CDs available to buy. Just my luck that it got sold out just today! Anyway I persuaded him to head off to Kiddy Palace to find the CD and crossed my fingers that it's available there, and it'll be just as well as I have some vouchers to spend there, saving me the cash that was needed to get his present :P Unluckily for me, it was sold out too....end up we gave up searching for the CD and settled on a fishing rod set for his present.

By the time we got his present it was already near lunch time. He wanted the KungFu Panda characters that are being given away with the Happy Meal at Mac and thus we headed to Mac again to get a Happy Meal set for his lunch. Sadly the Panda character will not be available till end of the month and he had to settle for the Praying Mantis instead. After that we went to fetch Ee and then home to have lunch and get Ee ready to go out.

After hubby's meeting in the morning ended at about 2pm, he came back to fetch us and off we go to Vivo City for the movie KungFu Panda. Hubby had booked 3 tickets for the 4pm show and the boys were very excited about the show. It was intended that hubby will bring the 2 boys to the show while I'll be walking/shopping around with Min as we were quite afraid that the sound effects from the show will be too loud for Min. At the last minute, we decided to take the risk and went in together (luckily Ee can get it without a ticket).
Thankfully Min behaved real well during the show and fell asleep halfway through the show and slept peacefully till the show ended. While he was sleeping, I had consciously covered up his ears just in case he got awaken by the sound effects. Ee also fell asleep halfway through the show and only woke up almost 15minutes to the end of the show and went to the toilet once. Hao enjoyed the movie the most and I could hear his laughter throughout the entire show! Overall, we are quite happy that the show was really funny and interesting enough for the kids and ourselves as it's been a long time since we stepped into the movie theatre, especially with the kids :)

After the show, we proceeded to Sakae Sushi at Harbourfront for dinner, and the kids behaved really well for the dinner, including Min who really sat still throughout the entire dinner time and we all were able to relax and enjoy dinner.
After dinner, we dropped by in laws place and helped with some preparation for the dumpling wrapping tomorrow and then headed home to rest for the day.

The day passed so quickly and we really had a great family outing. I sat and thought about the day when Hao was born, and his growing pains for the past 6 years, and realise the kids are growing up too fast and too soon. Gone were the days when they started teething, eating, crawling, walking and their first day in school, first friends they mentioned, even the pains of potty training them and then now, in a blink of my eye, he's already 6! He'll be Primary 1 next year and starting to venture out into the society as a young boy, not as my little baby anymore. I now understand why we are always looked upon as kids to our own parents, as we are behaving the same, hoping and believing that our kids will always be our babies....

Hao's Count Down

Hao has been counting down to his birthday since beginning of the week. Every morning after he wakes up, he'll tell us how many days to his birthday and what he wanna do and buy for his birthday. He's been thinking of presents and more presents and was a little upset that I told him yesterday that he can only choose one item as his present and no more than that. Well, the least he'll be getting will be a small Thomas train mini cake from polar and a motorized Arthur train from sis. Am not really keen on getting any toys for him since he has plenty of them and it's giving me a headache as to where and how I can organise his big collection of toys when we move house next month. Will probably get him the Car PC game instead. Just like his dad, he's really into games and PC nowadays, especially it's the school holiday now and he can really enjoy himself at home after he completes his regular worksheets. We (or rather hubby) will be bringing Hao and Ee to watch the KungFu Panda cartoon on Friday afternoon while me and Min will be waiting miserably outside the theatre as we are afraid that the sound in the theatre will be too loud for Min. We have also plans to bring them to sit on the duck tour before the show starts and then get a nice dinner after the show. It will definitely be an enjoyable day!

Eruption of another kind...

It finally happened. Min's teeth finally erupted in his lower gums few days ago. Everyone's been talking about him having itching gums and stuffing whatever he can grab hold of into his little mouth since he turned 4 months and his teeth finally erupted at 7 months. I say TEETH because his first 2 teeth came out together at the same time...not one tooth at a time but a pair together. I am crossing fingers that he'll only learn to bite my nipples (while nursing) a little later as I dread to think of the time when Ee was teething and bite me till I bleed and almost gave up breastfeeding! Think I might as well cross my toes too...Anyway I tried to take pictures of his little baby teeth but the pictures came out really bad so it might take a little while to let his teeth come out a little more before I can take nicer pictures and show it :D
MIL bought a choc-a-bloc cake today :) She's a real choco-holic and she told me that she has been to the cake shop 3 times and finally got the cake today. Apparently Nic bought her to get a cake at choc-a-bloc the last time and she had got a crave for the chocolate cake today and went to get a cake for everyone to eat. During dinner time, she told announced that she'll be eating less dinner and saving much of her stomach space for the chocolate cake she bought. That's her...easily satisfied just by a simple chocolate cake. Her birthday is in 2 weeks' time...have to decide what cake to get her soon...gotta scout for other nice tasting chocolate cake LOL
