Happy New Year~

New Year is just 3 days away. Not sure why but this year seems exceptionally quiet. Maybe because we cut down our spending on new year goodies since there had been a lot of leftover goodies over the past years and we didn't want to waste the money on that anymore. New clothes are the clothes that I've bought few months back that hadn't been worn yet, or the new clothes that the kids got during christmas and birthdays. Bought hubby's clothes online and he just made some new work trousers. I didn't get any new clothes this year as I thought since I am not working, there is no need for me to get any clothes, just dig out those casual clothes that I haven't been wearing too frequently. I don't like the ideas of hanging or pasting stuff on the walls so we put up minimal decorations too. All in all, there isn't much to prepare and I didn't get to go out and immerse myself in the pre-CNY sales so somehow I can't feel the festival mood. Maybe it's also because this year we will only be having 2 days of holidays and by 3rd day, all will be back at work and school.
Everyone is back for new year. All who are overseas made it back this week for CNY celebrations next week. Even Nic will be home tonight. Rather excited to seeing her again after so long. Each trip back, she will not forget to ask what I want to get and she'll get it back for me. Too bad I don't have the time to go and get her favourite Lim Chee Guan Bak Kwa this year. My guess is she won't be eating much too as she's trying to maintain her figure lol
Today I've decided not to cook dinner so its a pretty relaxing day for me. CNY is just around the corner and everything is just so expensive. I am quite certain we will be eating lotsa chinese food for the next 4 days so I've decided that I should stop cooking for the kids for a while. The kids are asking for pizza so today will be pizza Friday. Hao reminded me to invite sis and kevin for pizza friday so they'll be coming over after work. The kids missed having people (other than their mummy) over for games and food. Hubby has been working rather hard this week with projects to run and the kids haven't seen him much this week. It seemed a long time since I've spoken to hubby lol

New Beginnings..

We had gotten our new car 2 weekends ago. Was too busy to post pictures so here is it now...
This is a Steel Grey color new Hyundai I-30. Great car that serves our purpose plus a sporty look. Hubby had cleaned the car twice and is swearing to get a car vacuum to clean the interior too lol
We've started to prepare for CNY this week. Got the house spring cleaned, and bought some CNY goodies to stock up. Just last night we got our box of mandarin oranges from mother in law and I opened up the box to have a look and guess what our little friend did...
Hao had started school for more than a week now. He's coping well and enjoying school very much. Last week he had a buddy to take care of him during recess time and he had gotten the hang of buying food from the school. However, he's also gotten lazy to buy food during recess and also gotten sick of eating the same foods everyday and had told me to pack a lunchbox for him to bring to school everyday. So far so good. He had also gotten his immunization jab today. He didn't cry at all and told me it didn't really hurt. Such a good boy. He's really all grown up.

To School, To School, We carry a Big Bag...

Hao has finally stepped his foot into primary school last friday. At the same time, Ee also started his nursery classes at a new Kindy. Our first day of school was rather interesting, as we saw Ee's new classmates and teachers in the morning during his school orientation, and we sent Hao to take the school bus and fetch him back the same way. Thanks to Aixia, I was less than the regular blur mummy as she reminded me to wait for Hao in school and watch him get down the school bus and ensure that he went off to the school hall for the assembly. Without her advice, I think I will miss my son's first day of school adventure! Both boys are adapting well in school, and today will be the first formal day in school with lessons. Crossing my fingers that they'll cope well enough to pass the years uneventfully!

A Brand New Year - 2009

2009 is finally here. I never thought time will fly pass so fast and in a wink of an eye, it's already 2009. Married 9 years, knew hubby for 13 years and have 3 kids, with the eldest going to Primary 1 tomorrow!! What can I say? Time really flies.

We had sis and Kevin over for New Year Eve dinner, and we went out to get ingredients for Cheese fondue and sushi for dinner, plus chocolate fondue for dessert. Well, hubby had cravings for these so he went online to get some recipes and decided that he'll try to prepare them for the dinner since we had no idea what to eat. It turned out the food was great. Not professionally done but edible and taste quite well too. We had some left overs after dinner and I used the left overs to make baked rice for tonight's dinner and it turned out pretty well too. That's 3 new recipes tried out so far - Chesse Fondue, Chocolate Fondue and Baked Rice. Not too bad for a new beginning.

Had just finished packing Hao's bag for tomorrow. Tomorrow is THE BIG DAY that he's going to Primary 1. Pretty excited for him as he'll be getting on the school bus and venturing to the school to start his new "grown up" life with new experiences and of course new responsibilities. We had let him run wild this school holiday as it'll be his last bit of freedom and fun in his childhood and starting tomorrow, there'll be constant naggings and reminders from me to study hard, finish homework and do his revisions before he can play his toys or even watch the TV. Welcome to reality Hao! I just hope he can cope well in school. Not praying for him to excel in anything but just able to do good and enjoy his time in school.

Ee will be going onto Nursery tomorrow at the new kindy too. Tomorrow morning will be his orientation and his lessons will officially start next Monday. He's excited about the school as Hao had attended lessons there previously and Ee had got quite familiar with the environment and teachers there. Hope he won't get separation anxiety next week and cling onto me in the mornings.

Sigh, 2009 will be a busy year for me. I sure hope everything will go well, and I really hope to be able to brush up on my cooking too!
